What is ‘special’ about your church?

There are dozens of churches to pick from, so why this one?  Easy — we follow the scriptural, New Testament Christianity pattern set down by Christ and his apostles.  Sadly, most other faiths are not even close and a lot of good people who sincerely believe in God have been led astray by un-sound, false doctrine (Titus 2:1) or false teachers (2 Peter 2:1).

What is your worship service like?

Jesus said, “God is a Spirit and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth.”  John 4:24
The Scriptural format for Christian worship:

  1. Prayers of faith  I Cor 14:15
  2. Congregational singing  Eph 5:19Col 3:16
  3. Teaching  I Cor 14:23-40Acts 20:7
  4. Communion  I Cor 11:23-29Acts 20:7
  5. Contribution  I Cor 16:1-2II Cor 9:7

These items constitute the scriptural pattern for worship, plainly stated.  Thus:

  1. We offer prayers without candles, beads, etc.
  2. We sing without instrumental music.
  3. We meet in the assembly (husbands, wives, and children worship all together as a family).  Only men may teach in the public assembly.  I Cor 14:23I Tim 2:11-13
  4. We commune on the first day of EVERY week, not just selected occasions.  Every week has a first day.  We use the elements of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine.
  5. Our contributions are free-will offerings on the first day of the week.  We do not require members to tithe ten percent.  There’s no such commandment in the New Testament.

How do you use church funds?

If you know the history of Christianity, especially in America, one of the biggest mistakes churches made was bringing in a hireling (John 10:11-13) to do the work that the leaders and chief men of a congregation should do themselves.  The introduction of paid preachers, priests, minister, etc. is NOT a scriptural example and will not be viable much longer in the 21st century.

All church funds are used to help the poor, the sick, those in need, and help with the work of the saints (1 Cor 16:1).
